About Logan
Education and Credentials
I'm a self-taught artist, with experience using a variety of image editing and art software, including the popular programs Photoshop, Corel Paint, ArtRage Pro, ArcSoft PhotoImpression, and Morpheus. I have a keen eye for aesthetics, layout, and colors. My designs are based upon an innate sense rather than formal education. This works in my clients' favor, as they receive quality work at a much lower rate than degreed designers typically charge. However, my lack of degree should not be misconstued as a lack of knowledge or willingness to learn more about my field. I am an avid reader of of trade magazines and educational/reference books to keep up-to-date on the latest trends and techniques in graphic design and hold memberships in the National Association of Photoshop Professionals, and the Association of Virtual Worlds. I have been freelancing as an artist since 2004, and founded (as sole proprietor) LoPo Designs, LLC, in June of 2009.
My Process
How I Work
I always begin the creative process with a specific image or idea in mind. With the exception of those rare happy accidents and/or times I play around in my art programs just for the fun of it, I know mentally how the end piece will look before I even begin. I use several tools in my work: a digital camera, a tablet, and various software programs. Which of these I use and how I use them depends upon the end look I am trying to achieve. For example, I might use a picture I've taken as a foundation and adorn the shot in Photoshop, either by "painting" on top of it using my tablet, or perhaps tweaking color levels, etc., until it fits the image in my my mind's eye. On other occasions, I might opt to paint my vision directly using my tablet. Regardless the method for creation, the techiniques employed are always dictated by my vision.
When working with clients who request various business art projects (banner ad images, concept art, etc.) I first meet with the client to determine the look they are after and in what context they plan to use the image. Only after the initial information gathering session, will I set pen to tablet. This meeting is important, as the end result for such work needs to reflect the client's likes and objectives, not my personal tastes as an artist.
